AI Chat Explorer (“we”, “us”) publishes independent hands-on tests and comparisons of AI companion apps at https://aichatexplorer.com. This page explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to data when you visit this site. The short version: we run no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies, and we do not ask you for any personal information.
What we do not collect
We want to be specific rather than vague, because vague privacy policies are usually hiding something. On this website there is:
- No analytics. We do not run Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Microsoft Clarity, Plausible, PostHog, Hotjar or any equivalent measurement script.
- No advertising or social pixels. There is no Meta/Facebook pixel, no TikTok pixel, no ad network code and no retargeting.
- No tracking or consent cookies. We do not set cookies to identify, profile or follow you between visits.
- No accounts. Public registration is disabled, so you cannot create a user account and we hold no user profiles.
- No comments. Commenting is switched off site-wide, so we collect no commenter names, email addresses, IP addresses or browser strings.
- No newsletter or contact forms. We do not operate a mailing list and there is no form on this site that asks for your details.
- No selling or sharing of personal data. We have no personal data to sell, and we would not sell it if we did.
What is collected automatically
Like every website on the internet, this site runs on a web server, and that server keeps standard technical logs. Those logs may record your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page or file requested, the HTTP status code, the referring page and your browser’s user-agent string.
These logs exist for security and reliability — spotting attacks, diagnosing errors and keeping the site online. They are not linked to any identity, are not used to build a profile of you, are not used for marketing, and are not shared with third parties except where we are legally required to do so. Server logs are rotated and deleted on a rolling basis and are not retained long-term.
Cookies
No cookies are set for ordinary visitors reading this site. Our software (WordPress) sets cookies only for logged-in site administrators, to keep an editing session signed in. If you are not one of our editors — and you are not, because registration is closed — no cookies are placed on your device by us.
Hosting
This site is served from a rented virtual server. Our hosting provider processes the technical server logs described above on our behalf, purely to deliver the website to your browser. We do not grant any hosting or infrastructure provider permission to use visitor data for their own advertising or profiling purposes.
Links to other websites
Our reviews and comparisons link out to the AI companion apps we test and to source material. Once you follow a link away from this site, you are on someone else’s website, governed by their privacy policy and their tracking — which is frequently far more aggressive than ours. We have no control over what those sites collect, and we encourage you to read their policies before signing up or paying.
For clarity about our incentives: we buy our own accounts on the apps we test. We do not run affiliate rankings or sponsored placements, so our outbound links are not built to track a commission back to you.
Embedded content
Articles may occasionally include embedded content such as screenshots or media from other websites. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly, and those sites may collect data about you, use cookies and embed additional third-party tracking. Images and screenshots we produce ourselves are hosted on our own server and carry no tracking.
Children
This site covers AI companion products intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Your rights
Under data protection law (including the UK GDPR and EU GDPR) you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data a site holds about you, and to object to its processing. In our case there is, in practice, nothing to hand over or erase: we hold no accounts, no comments, no mailing list and no analytics profiles. If you believe our short-lived security logs contain your IP address and you want that addressed, contact us using the details below and we will respond.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add analytics, a newsletter, comments or any other feature that collects personal data, we will update this page and change the “last updated” date above before that feature goes live. We will not quietly add tracking and leave this page saying otherwise.
